Counseling and Wellness
"Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and joy--the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light."
Thank you so much for taking the time to time to visit Aspire Counseling and Wellness. Life isn't always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life's more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow.
You might be initially hesitant to seek out help and support for personal matters, but when you do, you will feel confident that you are taking a courageous first step towards getting to a better place and being a better you.
We specialize in treating children, teens, individuals, couples and families. Our goal is to help our clients identify and explore the issues and conflicts which brought them to therapy, to discover and reconnect to their inherent strengths and resources, and to restore a sense of resiliency as they meet the challenges in their lives.

Julie Johnson, LMFT
Hello! My name is Julie Johnson and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both North Carolina and California and also Licensed Professional Clincial Counselor in CA. I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and my BA in Corporate Communications from the College of Charleston. I have over 14 years of exerience in the mental health field. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use issues and have extensive exerience helping clients explore underlying core beliefs that impact both their self-esteem and many of their relationships. I am Nationally certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (commonly referred to as CBT), which is extremely effective for individuals who need to quickly learn skills and techniques to reduce symptoms related to depression and anxiety. Along with CBT, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, always keeping in mind that every one of us is unique and all learn and cope very differently. I believe it is incredibly important to help my clients identify what works best for THEM and incorporate that into therapy. You are the only expert in your life and what works for someone else, might not work for you. I don't have a magic wand (trust me, I wish I did.. and I promise I'll let you know if I ever find one). But what I do have is the ability to walk alongside you and provide you with support as we work through whatever has brought you to therapy.
Hi! I am the administrative assistant here at Aspire Counseling and Wellness. I received my bachelor's in psychology at Florida Gulf University, and am currently pursuing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. After obtaining my degree, I aspire to become a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC).
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family. My boyfriend and I recently moved to North Carolina from Florida, and love exploring the Boone area. I also enjoy thrifting, painting, volunteering with animals, and trying new restaurants.
We provide individual therapy for many concerns including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, relational concerns, self-esteem issues, and addiction.
