Counseling and Wellness
"Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and joy--the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light."
Brene Brown

Julie Johnson, LMFT
Hello! My name is Julie Johnson and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both North
Carolina and California and also Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in CA. I also have my
telehealth registration in South Carolina. I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from
Pepperdine University and my BA in Corporate Communications from the College of Charleston. I
have over 14 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in treating depression,
anxiety, trauma, and substance use issues and have extensive experience helping clients explore
underlying core beliefs that impact both their self-esteem and many of their relationships. I am
Nationally certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (commonly referred to as CBT), which is
extremely effective for individuals who need to quickly learn skills and techniques to reduce
symptoms related to depression and anxiety. Along with CBT, I use a variety of therapeutic
techniques, always keeping in mind that every one of us is unique and all learn and cope very
differently. I believe it is incredibly important to help my clients identify what works best for THEM
and incorporate that into therapy. You are the only expert in your life and what works for someone
else, might not work for you. I don't have a magic wand (trust me, I wish I did. and I promise I will let
you know if I ever find one). But what I do have is the ability to walk alongside you and provide you
with support as we work through whatever has brought you to therapy.
